Zoom Lenses

Zoom Lenses

A zoom lens has the ability to vary its focal length unlike the prime lenses that have fixed views. Zoom lenses are used in a number of items. Some of the most common items that zoom lenses are used in are regular, still cameras, video cameras, binoculars, microscopes and telescopes. It was in the early 1800s that zoom lenses started appearing in optical telescopes. Optical telescopes were used for magnification of images. However, the first “real” zoom lenses were patented in 1902 by Clile A. Allen. And, it wasn’t until the 1930s that zoom lenses were produced industrially. In 1959, the first zoom lens was in regular production for still cameras, but with the advances in optical design, design and construction much easier and are now used by many professional and amateur photographers. When discussing designs, there are many to talk about. There are several different designs for zoom lenses. The more complex the design is of the camera is, the more lenses it has.

Nikon Zoom Lenses

Nikon sells zoom lenses and they do it with a wide array of selection to choose from. Nikon produces a zoom lens that is a 55 – 200 mm and runs for about $130. However, this is on the very low end of the spectrum. On the other end of the spectrum, cameras can range up to as much as $5,500. As mentioned before, there are many choices when you are choosing which zoom lens to add to your camera.

Zoom Lens Cleaning

Since you probably spent quite a bit of money on the zoom lens itself, you want to take as good of care of it as you know how. But, if you don’t know how, there are things you should definitely know about cleaning your zoom lens. One thing you can do to ensure your lens is ready to take the best picture possible is to get a dust blower. They are inexpensive and can help clear dust particles off your lens. There is also a cleaning fluid that you can use on your lens to get things that are more permanent, like fingerprints, off. Use a cloth with this type of fluid and never put the fluid directly on the lens, put it on the cloth first. It is not recommended that you clean the outside of the equipment. It is pretty protected from the elements, but if this is a concern, it might be a good idea to purchase a camera case.
