Studio Equipment

Setting up your own photography studio can be an intimidating experience because of the amount of things that are needed. One of the things that you will need is a background and a support stand. The backgrounds come in a variety of different sizes and types. There are paper backgrounds, muslin backgrounds, canvas backgrounds and velour background. The price for each will depend on the size and style needed. Some plain backgrounds can be purchased for as little as $30, others are much more expensive and are for sale in the $150 to $200 range. Lights are also another essential item in the photography studio and can be very expensive depending on your needs. If you plan on getting a good deal of use out of the studio, then it may be worthwhile to purchase a lighting kit. A lighting kit usually consists of two or more lights, depending on the size of the kit, and while it is expensive you will find it to be a much cheaper alternative to buying lights individually. A basic tungsten lighting kit can be bought for $200.

Wholesale Photography Studio Equipment

Because setting up a photography studio can be quite expensive, there are alternative ways to save money that each photography enthusiast should pursue before laying down a huge amount of money. Much of the equipment that is needed can be bought used from various online auction houses such as eBay. Before you enquire about a particular piece of studio equipment, make sure that the seller is willing to sell certain pieces and not his or her entire studio. Buying an entire studio may seem like an attractive option at first, but it is not the best way to build your future studio. There may be some items that are in poor working condition and don’t have much life in them before they stop working altogether. Pick only the best items you can find for the best prices. Before you buy, make sure that the seller is reputable by reading the feedback responses of people the seller has sold to. You can also check the seller’s rating to determine if he or she is trustworthy. Another alternative to shopping online is checking with your local photography shop. Often they will run periodic sales on equipment that they are desperate to get rid of. This is an excellent way to pick up quality equipment without having to sacrifice quality for price.
