Softboxes
Softbox
There are some different setups for softboxes. Depending on the kind you get, softboxes normally look like a large television that is placed on a stand, usually a tripod. The light emits from the box, to provide a certain look to your photography studio. The boxes range from small to large, and the one right for you depends on how much photography you’re doing, and also what look you’re attempting to achieve. Softboxes can require lots of time setting up and figuring out how to move around, so if you want a solution to this, you may want to try a foldable softbox! You unfold the box into whichever design it is (softbox or octabox), attach the diffusion panel to the box, and then attach your pole for setup. It’s very easy, and since these are retractable, they are light and easy to use. Softboxes can reflect light from other lighting sources, but there are also softboxes that are built with the light inside them.
How To Assemble A Softbox
If you’ve got a foldable softbox, it’s quite easy to assemble. Since these softboxes are not made out of the normal softbox material, however, you want to be very careful when assembling the box, in order not to rip or tear anything. With a foldable softbox, you simply unfold the box, attach the diffusion panel onto the box, and attach the pole or stand to the softbox. It’s easy and kind of fun! If you have a real softbox, though, they are harder to assemble. Here are some easy, quick directions to assembling a basic softbox: Lay your white front panel straight out on the floor, with the four corner pockets and Velcro trim facing upwards. Take the speedring and place it in the middle of the softbox, then place the rods into the four corners of the panel. Bend the poles into the speedring. The rings should slide in with relative ease. You’ll now have a frame assembled. Take the black cover and slide it over your frame, making sure the corners are lined up together. Attach the black and white panels with the Velcro trim. Make sure the softbox is secure by attaching the speedring in the hole of the black panel. Secure all sides of the softbox with the Velcro and mount the poles into the stand.
